People are so easily deluded into thinking they’ve instrumented choice, where in reality they’re nothing but passive observers.—CRASS, Yes Sir I Will
The Passive Observer

Welcome to this world

Research in Psychology is bullshit as it is, without researchers adding their crock opinion. Some psychiatrist from New York has decided that depression among teenagers is the result, not the cause, of their experimenting with sex and drugs/alcohol. (I don’t have a link, I read this in the paper.) Apparently, teetotalers run the greatest risk of becoming shiny, happy. Off course, abstainers never really join the real world anyway. How fucking disconnected are you when, as a teenager, you see absolutely no reason to drink or screw. You should be shot on site for being one of the undead. Depression cannot be blamed on hormones alone, that’s too easy. I’m not a neuro-surgeon, but some form of ‘free will’ is involved as well. Teenagers get depressed, because it’s the only logical reaction to finding out how the world actually works, from the lies you’re fed as a kid. Discovering pot and wanking is an intrinsic part of that process. So yes: the drinking and fucking comes first, the depression comes afterwards. The fact that sex and drugs fuck up your hormones some more is true, but irrelevant, since they didn’t cause the depression. For one thing, since they may intensify the depression, they may actually help in spotting the signs at an earlier stage.

And stop blaming the kids. Self-medication among adults is near total. Grown-ups who are not constantly depressed are simply ignorant, either due to a lack of knowledge or due to a lack of wllingness. Most of the adults actually enjoy the drag of labour, because it’s the only thing that keeps them from knotting the noose.
